Ajeenkya DY Patil School of Engineering requires prospective students to take an entrance exam in order to be admitted. The mandatory entrance test for all prospective students from India who seek admission to any undergraduate or postgraduate programme at ADYPU is the ADYPU Common Entrance Test (ACET). The test is held once a year and is a university-level examination for courses in Liberal Arts, Design, Engineering, Law, etc. The entrance test is divided into two parts, each part is of 50 marks, and part one is common for all. The admission process for Ajeenkya DY Patil School of Engineering is conducted offline. The eligibility criteria for admission to the undergraduate engineering programme is a pass in 10+2 scheme of examination with at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and also at least 50% in English.

The application process has two stages:

It is a part of Ajeenkya DY Patil University, which was established in 2010 by the DY Patil group, a network of educational institutions in India. It is difficult to say whether Ajeenkya DY Patil School of Engineering is as good as Dr. D. Y. Patil School of Engineering and Technology. There are some this one thing that can be taken in concideration is that both the school offer alot a similar courses such as, BE in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science programs are at both schools.
