Annamalai University Distance Education offers admission to candidates based on their merit. Candidates can get a seat directly through Spot Admission. Aspirants have to submit the filled-in application form along with the documents to the nearest Learners Support Centre or LSC in-person to get direct admission. All Spot Admissions are subject to confirmation or cancellation (if found ineligible) by the Director, CD&OE.

M.A. in Functional English is not offered from the Directorate of Distance Education, Annamalai University. Their distance education programs as of March 28, 2025, include the following M.A. options: English, Tamil, History, and Sociology.
They provision M.A. Functional in their official offering, because it is a specialised course that concentrates on the practical aspects of language. There is a standard M.A. English course, which would be only open to holders of bachelor's degrees. The fees are quite affordable, about INR 7,000-10,000 per year, and admission just needs an online application with requisite documents.

The BBA program offered by distance education at Annamalai University terminated its distance learning operation in September of 2024.
The established examination centers organize traditional in-person tests for active students in the program. No, Annmalai University DDE offers admission to the MBA programme on a merit-basis. There is no entrance score requirement. The university accept applications for the distance course based on merit in the last qualifying examination. Hence, the aspirants performance in the bachelor's degree course is considered for the final selection. However, to be eligible for the course, aspirants must have a valid bachelor's degree of at least three years duration.

In addition, the academic year 024-25 of the Centre for Distance and Online Education is from Jul 1 to Jun 30. Admission to the programme is merit-based.
