Yes, all the colleges that offer Bachelors in Journalism and Mass Communication/Media studies do conduct an entrance exam. The exam is basically a general aptitude test and consists of 4 sections including Quantitative aptitude (basic maths), Logical Reasoning, English Language and General awareness.

The UG course in Journalism and Mass Communication includes subjects like Principles of Communication, Print Journalism, Electronic Journalism (TV and Radio), Advertising, Public Relations, Media Research, Corporate Communication, New Media (Internet), Photography, Media Laws, Event Management and alike.

Both the courses are quite different in the sense that the BA Journalism is a specialised course in journalism only. Once you complete the course, you will be able to make your career in media as a reporter, correspondent, editor etc. in a media house; print as well as electronic. But a BJMC degree is more elaborate on its course curriculum. It covers all the medium of mass communication like radio, print, television, internet, advertising, public relations, event management and so on. It is a more detailed and comprehensive programme than BA Journalism. I would suggest you to go for mass communication (BJMC) as it will help you
