Jamia Millia Islamia offers seat reservations in almost all the courses based on the category of the students. Candidates seeking admission under the reserved category can apply for reservation under one category only and are required to fulfil the prescribed eligibility conditions of the course. More details regarding JMI reservation criteria are enlisted below:

• 30% of the total number of seats in each course are reserved for Muslim applicants. 10% of the total number of seats in each course are reserved for women applicants
  who are Muslims and 10% of the total number of seats in each course shall be earmarked for (OBCs) and ST students who are Muslims.
• 5% of seats in all the courses are reserved for physically challenged students.
• 5% of seats in all courses must be filled by internal students of Jamia who have passed their qualifying exam from Jamia schools as regular students.

Ranked 3rd in the country under NIRF ranking 2022 by the Ministry of Education, Jamia is considered to be one of the primary options for the students to pursue their undergraduate and postgraduate education in the field of Arts, Law, Science and Engineering. In the field of Arts and Humanities, some of the popular BA (Hons) specialisations include Mass Media (Hindi), Economics, English, among others. In addition to these popular specialisations, Jamia Millia Islamia offers BA (Hons) programme across 17 specialisations along with a BA programme. Despite the popularity, it is always recommended that the selection of specialisation in any course must depend on students’ stream, interest and academic background.

Candidates seeking admission to Jamia Millia Islamia for BA must have passed Class 12 or SSC with a minimum aggregate ranging from 40-50%. The passing percentage is different for different specialisations offered in the BA programme. Admission to Jamia Millia Islamia for BA and BA (Hons) is subject to either CUET (conducted by NTA) or JMI entrance exam. Till 2021, admission was subject to the JMI entrance exam across all specialisations. However, starting 2022, admission to a few BA (Hons) specialisations is CUET-based and for the rest, it is university-level entrance-based.
