Hi,
If you are an AMIE than you you are eligible to appear in GATE. But only very few branches of B.Sc are eligible for GATE like B.Sc geology etc. AMIE is equivalent to B.Tech.

Hi
Both will hv certain extent of mathematics as required in the field. B.tech will get u better job for little more hardwork for sure. Check the complete syllabus here.
