Construction Management (CM) or Construction Project Management (CPM), has its roots in Project Management (PM). PM in turn has its roots in aerospace projects, which have the distinction of being the projects which exceed their budgets by sometimes as high as 400% and get delayed by decades. Infrastructure; Construction projects too have faced similar problems, but, to a lesser degree.
In India, most civil engineering graduates who opt for a Masters (M.Tech/ME) mostly aim for Structural Engineering, as it is considered the toughest and the one with the most perceived value by both the industry and academia. CPM was a niche field and mostly unheard of, in India, as most infrastructure projects were publically funded and ultimately the government pulled the strings. Delays were the norm and cost overruns were tolerated.
But most projects (after economic liberalisation of India) are being funded by loans from the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and other nations such as Singapore (Amravati, Capital of Seemandhra), Japan (Bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad) and other investment entities. These investors and funding agencies recommend best standards and delays; cost over-runs are not tolerated. Hence the need for project managers and construction managers.
Real Estate in India is funded by black money and corrupt politicians, this is the ground reality. But genuine real estate developers distinguish themselves, with timely delivery of property and try to kept debt to a minimum. Now this can happen only if their projects are completed on time and within the budget, so that they can make a profit and maintain their reputation simultaneously.
Therefore, job openings for construction management professionals have increased in India faster in comparison with structural engineering. A structural engineer and a construction manager are still sought after by infrastructure and real estate developers. But recently CM and CPM have witnessed an upward trend, which leads to the popular conclusion of CM having a better scope than SE (which is also partly true because the structural engineering job market has saturated in recent years). Construction Technology, a branch of Civil Engineering, refers to the planning, coordination and successful implementation of such structures. Also known as engineering technicians or construction inspectors, look for problems in buildings, bridges, dams, highways and other structures.
Construction technologists should have good knowledge about different types of materials used for construction, along with testing procedures to assure quality control.
Graduates of the Construction Technology programme have risen to the highest professional levels in building construction industry. Some of the jobs that are available for construction technology grads are:

4) Projects / programme manager
5) Building Science technologists
6) Construction administrators
7) Architectural technologists
8) Technical / Engineering specialists
Pay scale :
They can get an initial salary of 5-8 Lacs per annum and this would increase based on the work experience and qualifications.

Please note my answer is not specific to any particular course. This is what I have experienced. If you are going to pursue higher studies just for the sake of getting a good package, then stop right there because it will never help unless you are good at your subject and if you are so good in your subject then you are already a master, you don't need a degree to prove it. It would be another case if you are changing your field like you are planning to do MBA and are not from commerce background. In that case, doing Masters can help you. Also, it is very much required to do a very clear research on the job where you want to land up in future. And this can be achieved if you have a handful of industry experience first. This gives a wide prospective of our future plans and can surely help in taking a right decision. It's really fine if you experience a different industry and want to land up in some other, the learning you get during your job is something beyond people's advice. Because this is totally your's and only you can take the best decision for yourself. Hope it helps thank you.

There is a word 'nomenclature' I wish you check the meaning of this because I need to use this word to make a reply. A university can name its course, under the guidelines by UGC. A Bachelor's degree in journalism had commonly been called Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication- BJMC as universities have the right to name the courses, the journalists and mass comm. got some specialisation as well as professional touch and got named by some as BA mass comm. Some universities came with B.Sc in mass media, BA in mass comm, BA in mass media, B.Sc in media studies as well. Another reason is following the global trends where we see foreign universities with these name course. Basically, there is no difference in a Bachelor's degree by these names. The foundation curriculum remains the same. Nomenclature is different, I mean naming can be different. Before doing the courses, a student must check whether that nomenclature is accepted and approved by other universities (to do Post Graduation) or by employers or not.
