It does not make much sense to do a BCA after you have completed a Diploma in architecture, unless you are interested in studying computer sciences and pursuing a career in the same field.
To improve your career prospects you need to study further either in your technical field or in a general area of study. If you wish to study further to improve your job prospects, then as a Diploma-holder, you can seek lateral entry to the second year of BE. Several engineering colleges offer this provision. You can pursue your Bachelors in architecture from Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) through correspondence. It conducts non-formal engineering education programs, successful completion of which is recognised as equivalent to a graduate degree in engineering. The Associate Membership of the Indian Institute of Architects (by examination) is at par with Bachelors Degree in Architecture of recognised Indian Universities as notified by the Government of India for the purpose of employment and services under Central government. BCA course: Eligibility
Candidates who wish to pursue BCA course must fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria.
Pass in 10+2 examination in any stream from a recognised board of education.
English as a subject of study.
A minimum aggregate score of 45% at 10+2 level.
Some colleges prefer students from science stream or those who have studied mathematics and computer science at 10+2 level.
BCA Course: Admission
For admission to BCA course, a student must fulfill the basic eligibility criteria as mentioned above. Admission to regular BCA course is generally done through a common entrance test conducted by respective universities. IPU CET SET are a few entrance tests conducted by some top institutes for providing admission to the course.
The application process for BCA entrance test usually starts in the month of May and June. Students have to apply to respective institutes in both online as well as offline modes.
BCA entrance test is generally of objective type and contains questions from the topics mentioned below.
The difficulty level is easy to moderate and questions in the test paper are of 10+2 level. The number of questions varies from 150-200 and the duration of the test is generally between 2- 2 hours.
BCA Course: Selection Process
The selection for admission to BCA is generally based on the performance in the written test. Certain universities like the Christ University, Bangalore, also conduct a personal interview for selection to the programme. The final selection is based on the cumulative performance in written test, personal interview and qualifying examination.
