Well, let me put it this way. It's an open education system. Hence, on the basis of teaching staff, it will hugely depend on the study centre you get. Even if you do get a good one, classes won't be like school classes. It's more about doubt-clearing session.
You study for the whole week from the given material and clear the doubts on weekends by consulting with the faculty. They will be there to guide you. And lots of assignments, most of the semester will go by into completing them. They are very important.
Hence, everything will circle down to you and your ability to self-study.
If you are one of the students, who heavily depend on teachers, then I would suggest, no because it's a tough university to score marks in. I have seen people getting frustrated and dropping out due to low marks.
Remember, it will solely depend on you and how much interest you have in this field. Distance or regular, ultimately, it depends on oneself. Colleges are there to guide you, not to spoon feed you. I have seen people flourish and fail in both places respectively.

Bachelors in Computer Application is the best and exciting course for computers enthusiastic students. In India, there are a good number of colleges available which offer BCA as a course. These are:
(1) Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi: It is a state government recognized college in Delhi. It is most popular Delhi's college all over India after the University of Delhi. It offers BCA entry through normal mode and through lateral entry.
(2) Christ University. It's also a good college. But through various sources, it is revealed that they are specialized in management course, not in IT course. But still, for a past couple of years, they have shown good placements for BCA students.
(3) Amity University, Noida. Located in the heart of Noida and surrounded by some giant IT MNCs. They have excellent IT labs and a good course curriculum for BCA students.

I think IGNOU is the best one. For one - It was created by the Act of Parliament, 1985. So all its programmes are well recognised by different universities for pursuing higher education and also by industries for jobs.
Getting admission in IGNOU is really easy. They have online admission system. You can simply upload your documents at IGNOU Online Admission and secure admission.
The best part is its study material. They are designed by professionals and Ph.Ds/ experts in fields. So the content is of high quality. Since they are specially made for self-study, they are easy to understand. You receive study material by courier. Infact you receive even exam hall ticket and I card by post and well in time. But IGNOU is for those you are sincere in studies for exams are more difficult than Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) for sure. Also, you need to have submitted your assignments in time. Or else you won't be allowed to appear in that particular subjects exam. In other words, passing SMU exams is a lot easier.
In my opinion, If you want more knowledge and study not just for the sake of having a degree certificate, then IGNOU is your way. But if you want easy way then go for SMU. I am no way devaluing SMU degree, but in my personal opinion, Ignou is better.
