If you already have work experience in the IT sector before doing your MBA, then looking for higher up positions in the same technical ladder would make sense and would be easy too. You have an MBA plus technical exposure which makes you very eligible. Firstly, it really comes with lots of hands-on. HR is a field which is truly people-centric. If you are already in an HR environment, it would be good to take initiative to conduct activities, arrange key tasks and activities which will directly / indirectly involve the use of soft skills and personality traits. In my perspective, one of the key things that matter to take up any course/certification/higher education should be your personal interest and skill sets in the filed that you are intending to pursue. Research a lot before take up higher studies and to understand exactly what you are looking for and why. And all the research at the end of the day should revolve around your key objectives, end goals, your criteria and priorities and the time you are willing to give, limitations involved if any.
