Your graduation exams are supposed to be completed by the end of this month and CAT exams are in Nov.last week so you have sufficient time to prepare for and there isn't any need of dropping for a year, coz it's upto admission committee of college whether they consider your gap or not so it is advisable not to take any such risk and time period you having is sufficient to score good in CAT.

Engineering is generally preferred. The other option can be BBA. Most of the students in IIMs are from good engineering colleges.
If you are opting for any non-engineering course, then my recommendation would be to go only if you are getting into a top college for that course.

yes it will be considered as gap, since you have 2 years of work experience i recommend you to go for MBA-Executive.
or if you want to pursue MBA then you should make sure about this from IIMs.

1. Start with Arun sharma (Simple and easy to understand.recommended for those who are starting their CAT preparation ).
2. If you feel your Quantitative Aptitude is pretty decent but you want to make it more stronger then you can follow Abhijit Guha's book:Quantitative Aptitude For Competitive Examinations by Guha Abhijit
