Yes, it is normal. Many people in the past have taken a drop of 6 to 10 months for CAT Preparation and have made it successfully to top IIMs. So, you are not the first one to do so. Just stay focused during the gap period, prepare well and score high. If there is a gap of one or two year between your graduation and CAT but I will suggest you that please utilize this gap, try to do something else as well with the preparations of CAT exams. It should not be a problem as long as you can justify the gap.

Yes, joining a coaching for preparation does not guarantee success in the CAT exam. You can certainly prepare yourself, given that you plan things well: a) Give yourself sufficient time to prepare between when you decide to attempt CAT and actually take your first attempt. How to crack the CAT exam? The exam offers tough competition to get into Iims or other top B-schools. A large number of CAT toppers crack CAT with self-preparation, and more than 60-70 percent CAT aspirants preferred self-preparation in the past also by making a well devised Self Study plan for CAT Exam Preparation at home on their own.

CAT and PGCET KMAT are all different management entrance exams. Generally, most of the best colleges in India accepts CAT so I want to suggest you put your more and more stress in CAT exam. The better you score the more is the chance to get a good college. The PGCET is for the state of Karnataka. CAT is for the top Business schools of India and the toughest to crack.
