CAT is an exam where students score an enviable 100 percentile as well. It is not essential to get a 100% but then 99 percentile is the score that is the minimum qualifying criteria if you want to get into an IIM.

The minimum CAT percentile varies and this goes from 80 to 95. The average cut-off also varies across all IIMs and goes above 90+.

Dear Friend,
The score is very low because you scored below 80%. So freely I am saying the chance is very much low. So, for this reason, try to score >99%. Best to do work for 2 years then go for it if you are only trying to go for IIMs.
Thank you.

Hello,
The CAT cutoff generally lies on the both sides of 80 percentile, after that you get a call based on your profile.

Your chances of getting a call from BITS Pilani are very thin at the described CAT percentile.

Your chances are thin but I will still suggest you to apply for the same since BITS Pilani has profile based call policy.

There is the usual phobia with the non-engineers with regards to CAT. They feel that the Engineers are better than them. The normal queries I get from students from non-engineering background before they join the batch is that are there Engineers in the class. If they are then how will we cope with them, they are better than us. Unfortunately, this attitude is what lets the students from Non Engineering background down. They already feel that Engineers are better than them and it will be difficult to compete with them. My experience with teaching students for the CAT exam shows just the opposite. I feel non engineers can cope as well a
