Yes definitely reading will help you to score good marks in Reading and Comprehension within assigned time frame. Reading editorials, novels and taking RC tests every day will help you hone your skills in RC. It help us to understand use of foreign words. It also help us in GD and PI by helping us knowing current affairs, economic environment, political issues etc. One can start with reading newspaper and then can develop habit of continuous reading of Novel, Journals, short stories, Articles etc.
Few tips for preparations:
1) What to read: From novels to short stories, newspapers and journals to essays, you can read almost everything under the sun.
2) When to read: For a CAT aspirant it is but mandatory to start reading at least 6 months in advance, for the simple reason that if you start reading keeping a deadline (exam date) in mind, it will be under pressure and will not give the desired result.
3) Reading improves vocabulary: The biggest benefit of reading is that it improves your vocabulary in both verbal and written English.Moreover, at the time of GD and PI you dont want to be left tongue-tied for the want of that right word or that right expression while presenting your argument.
4) Reading enhances your speed: CAT is all about time management. In this scenario, nothing but the ability to read fast without missing important points, can help. Those who are avid readers, need not worry. Those who dont read, must start now.
