The Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy. The notification for the examination is usually released in the months of October and June, and the examinations are conducted in February and November respectively. The next step after clearing the CDS examination is to prepare for SSB (Service Selection Board). The Ministry of Defense undertakes the SSB Interview to evaluate prospective candidates for recruitment in the Army, Navy and Air Force.
The benchmarks on which the candidates are assessed include intelligence, personality, compatibility, and potential. Hence, mental preparation holds prominence over physical preparation, although physical fitness will be an added advantage.

Hi Narayan,
Yes, you can give CDS examination after BCA. The minimum eligibility criteria (educational qualification) for CDS:
For IMA /OTA : A degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
For Indian Naval Academy: Bachelor of engineering.
For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized university (with physics and mathematics at 10 +2 level ) or Bachelor of engineering.

The Combined Defence Service (CDS) exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission twice every year for recruitment to officr cadre of the Indian Army, Indian Navy and IndianAir force. The candidates qualifying the written test are interviewed by the Service Selection Board and if finally selected, depending upon the choice given by the candidates and their merit list ranking, are sent to one of the following institutes for orientation training:
(a) Indian Military Academy , Dehradun
(b) Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala
(c) Air Force Academy, Hyderabad

You are advised to appear for NDA exam conducted by UPSC based on your 10+2 results. If you are unable to crack NDA exam then you can again try after graduation degree by appearing in CDS exam. If you appear in CDS after BA, you will be eligible for only non technical branches.

Hi,
BHM is a vocational course and hence, you can't take UPSC, CDS or NDA. If you are keen to join any of these look for army jobs as chef through their website. Even navy or marine academy might offer some jobs.

You are eligible to appear for CDS examination for non-technical corps in Indian Army after completing BA. As a women candidate, you are only eligible for OTA. Women candidates are not eligible for IMA.
