You will not be able to pursue a degree on conventional B.Tech courses but you can go for biotechnology as a subject if you are a bio student.
It is also another respected branch of engineering where only bio students can deal most probably.

Candidate must have cleared (or appearing) 10+2 or equivalent examination, with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects, as well as one subject out of Chemistry / Computer Science / Information Technology /Biotechnology / Biology / Informatics / Statistics or any other subject as approved by AICTE.

There is a role for the marks of 11th and 12th or rather 12th. This is so since all engineering colleges prescribe certain minimum marks to be obtained in 12th before you are granted admission in those Institutions. In a peculiar situation if you have scored say only 40% marks in 12 but is within top 100 in an entrance exam you may not get admission. For getting admission in IITs, the minimum marks prescribed for 12th or equivalent is 75%. In addition to this presently in the state of Tamil Nadu the whole admission process is based on the marks obtained in 12th and entrance exam has been discarded in that state since las
