In order to be eligible for the course, the student must attain a minimum of 50% in the 10+2 qualifying examination. Candidates have to pass a recognised Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination equivalent to 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology.

Manipal College of Dental Sciences eligibiltiy criteria for taking admission in BDS is as follows:
- Students with 50% marks in Class 10 and Class 12 or an equivalent course who cleared the NEET-UG cut-off meet the eligibility criteria for this course. Only NEET-UG exam scores are accepted for admission; a candidate must secure a score equal to or more than the NEET cutoff. Generally, the NEET cut-off varies each year, although for BDS, the NEET cutoffs for general and reserved categories are 720-137 and 136-107 respectively. Also, the total tuition fee for BDS is approximately 14.8L.
