So IILM Gurugram runs on Choice Based Credit System, aka CBCS, which is basically the UGC-recommended way now. Think of it like this: every subject you study has “credits” attached to it, usually based on how many hours you spend in class, labs, or projects per week. Core subjects, electives, skill courses, internships, sab ke alag credits hote hain. You need to collect a fixed number of credits to pass a semester and eventually graduate.

What does that mean for you? First, you get choice. About 50% of your credits come from core courses that everyone in your programme has to do, your foundation stuff like Programming, DBMS, or Marketing Basics. Baaki 50% you can mix-match with electives, skill courses, minors. Want to do AI with some Digital Marketing on the side? CBCS lets you do that. Second, grading is on a 10-point SGPA/CGPA system, not old-school percentages. For PGDM they even follow trimesters, SGPA each trimester, CGPA at the end of year.

The human part: It's flexible, but you still have to plan. Miss attendance or flunk a subject = you don't earn those credits, so backlogs happen. But flip side, if you're proactive, you can pick interesting electives, do extra skill courses, and even pace your degree. IILM's version is NEP-aligned + OBE, so credits are tied to outcomes, meaning you earn them when you actually demonstrate skills, not just sit in class.

CBCS at IILM gives you freedom to shape your degree, but you've got to stay on top of credits, attendance, and SGPA. Treat credits like money, collect enough, spend them wisely on subjects that help your career.

NIMS University BTech is a four-year UG degree course divided into eight semesters. It is offered in a full-time mode. The available lateral entry courses are Aerospace Engineering, CSE,  Aerospace1 and Engineering, etc. NIMS IET BTech specialisations are Electrical Engineering, IT,  Food Technology, etc.
