The cutoff for KCET at the VTU-affiliated University B.D.T. College of Engineering differs each year with the number of applicants, number of seats available, and the popularity of the branch of engineering. Generally, cutoffs tend to be higher for more popular branches such as Computer Science Engineering (CSE) and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), that is within 5,000-15,000 rank but may range from 15,000-30,000 rank in lesser sought after branches such as Civil and Mechanical Engineering. Getting admission into VTU affiliated Visvesvaraya Technological University affiliated University B.D.T. College of Engineering is moderately competitive. Admission is mainly on the basis of rank in KCET, COMEDK UGET or JEE Main. Good rank in KCET or COMEDK for general category students, but cutoffs may differ according to the stream and the college demand. The quality of food in the hostel mess at University B.D.T. College of Engineering, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) is satisfactorily good to most students. Mess provides wide varieties of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items that cater to the taste buds and dietary requirements of different types of people.
