Yes Mathematics is an important part of Mechanical Engineering graduates. Basic math, calculus and trigonometry are especially important math skills for a mechanical engineer. Mechanical engineers use math for many different reasons like using physics formulas to determine things like energy and force, using algebra to design suspension systems or developing algorithms for computer software. You will spend a lot of time in the field learning how a particular piece of machinery works. Linear algebra, calculus, statistics, differential equations and numerical analysis are taught as they are important to understand many engineering subjects such as fluid mechanics, heat transfer, electric circuits and mechanics of materials to name a few.
