The IAS prelims exam is conducted offline in a pen and paper mode. The IAS prelims exam is conducted in two shifts on a single day.  The candidates are required to appear in both the papers and clear both of them. The IAS prelims result is prepared based on the marks scored in the General Studies paper 1. The IAS prelims General Studies paper 2 is qualifying only.

The Union Public Service Commission will conduct the IAS 2026 exam on May 24, 2026. The Commission is expected to release the IAS admit card online in the last week of April 2026.

Union Public Service Commission is expected to conduct the IAS prelims 2024 exam on May 26, 2024. The Commission is expected to release the IAS 2024 admit card online only in the first week of May. The Union Public Service Commission released the IAS 2024 notification on February 14, 2024. The last date to apply for the IAS 2024 exam is March 5, 2024. 

The Commission will release the IAS prelims result 2024 online in the first week of June 2024.

The Union Public Service Commission provides only 23 days to fill the UPSC Civil Service (IAS) application form online. The UPSC IAS 2026 notification was released at upsc.gov.in.The last date to fill the online applications was February 27, 2026.

The Union Public Service Commission released the official IAS 2024 notification online on February 14, 2024. The Commission mentioned in the official notification that the candidates are required to upload a clear photograph in the official notification. The candidates should upload the coloured photograph to enhance clarity.

The coloured photograph will also help in mathing the picture with the photo identity proof. The candidates are suggested to upload a clear picture so that the recognition become easy.

The Commission provides one week for the UPSC IAS application correction. The UPSC will notify such dates in the officoal notification only. The last date to apply for the exam is revised now and will be notified soon at upsc.gov.in.

The Commission will notify the image specification in the official notification which is expected soon. The candidates will be required to follow the instructions given by the Commission and recently, the Commission has issued the face detection guidelines in the application process.
