In RBI Assistant there is no interview. However, candidates qualifying the Mains exam are required to appear for Language Proficiency Test (LPT). During LPT, candidates are assessed whether they can speak and write the language of the state they have applied for. The selection process of RBI Assistant comprises prelims and mains exams. The basic pay of RBI Assistant is INR 20700. Candidates are entitled to Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, Transport Allowance etc. , as admissible from time to time. The payscale is INR 20700-1200 (3)-24300- 1440 (4) -30060-1920 (6)-41580-2080 (2)-45740-2370 (3)-52850- 2850-55700 (20 years). Candidates are entitled to Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, Transport Allowance etc., as admissible from time to time. The total marks for RBI Assistant prelims exam are 100 while it is 200 for the Mains exam. There is no weightage for Language Proficiency Test (LPT). Candidates must be able to speak, write and understand the local language of the state they have applied for. According to RBI Assistant marking scheme, for correct answers, candidates score one mark. For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks are deducted. The section-wise total marks for prelims and mains exams are given below.

RBI Assistant application fee is INR 450 for OBC/General/EWS candidates, while it is INR 50 for SC/ST/PWD/EXS. The application fee of RBI Assistant can be paid online by using debit card/credit card, net banking, mobile wallets, etc. The application fee once paid by candidates will not be refunded by the examination authority.
