Government & Defence Entrance Exam

The academic eligibility for IAS/UPSC/Civil Service exams are:
1.The candidate must hold a degree from Government recognized Universities or possess an equivalent qualification.
2.Candidates who are in their final year or awaiting results are also eligible to appear for UPSC preliminary Examination. All such candidates who are eligible to appear for IAS exams must produce proof of having passed the said examination along with the application for the main IAS examination.
3.Candidates having professional and technical qualifications recognized by the Government as equivalent to professional and technical degrees.
4.Medical students who have passed final year of MBBS, but are yet to complete their internship also have eligibility for IAS. Although, along with the Main Examination application, a certificate of course completion (including internship) from the concerned authority of the University/Institution has to be submitted.

What does an immigration officer do?
Immigration officer provides student Visa, Employment Visa which could be temporary or permanent, Visa extension and the permanent citizenship. The immigration officer is often the first point of contact when a non-citizen enters the country wherein he asks the basic question of what kind of visa he/she has been permitted and the duration of stay in that particular country.
How to become an immigration officer?
You need to register to Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The Immigration services at the major International Airports in India and the Foreigners registration work in seven major cities are handled by the Bureau of Immigration (BOI).
What are skills required?
Key skills for immigration officer are confidence, assertiveness, resilience, excellent communication, language proficiency, interpersonal skills, team-working skills and organisational skills.
How much do they earn?
An immigration officer can expect the salary in the range of 50k to 80k per month depending upon the position and can differ from time to time.
