To be eligible for an MA in Folklore Studies at Gauhati University, you need a Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.Sc./B.Com.) with a major or general course in any language/literature discipline or social sciences, and a minimum of 50% marks in your degree course. Graduates with Folklore as a major/general subject will be given preference.

If you meet additional conditions, such finishing your undergraduate or graduate degree with at least 50% of the possible points (which is comparable to the CGPA standards) from an accredited university, you can apply for Gauhati University's B.Ed programme based on your 4.5 CGPA in MA English. The Gauhati University B.Ed Common Entrance Test or GUBEDCET, is the basis for admission to the B.Ed program. It evaluates subjects relating to education, general English, general knowledge numerical ability and reasoning.

At Gauhati University, 80% seats in traditional programmes are exclusively reserved for GU students and remaining 20% seats are available for others. Additionally, all the interdisciplinary seats are open for all students irrespective of their university. Category-wise reservation of seats under all programmes are mentioned below:

Eligibility:
A Bachelor's degree of 10+2+3 pattern with 50% marks in aggregate or in Honors/Major subject (if any) from Guwahati University or any other recognized University.
