Q:   How can I get admission for MBA at Guwahati University?
A:

Gauhati University MBA admission is completely based on the merit scores obtained by students in the university/national-level entrance exam along with their merit at the undergraduate level. Those who qualify one of the afore-mentioned exams are required to go through a GDPI round for final selection. Before everything else, students must meet with the minimum eligibility criteria set by the university which is to pass a relevant undergraduate degree with at least 50% aggregate. I am very satisfied with my college. Its teachers are very good and supportive.
Placements: Mostly, students are placed in my course. The average package is 6 LPA, with a max of 24 LPA and a min of 4 LPA. Overall, the placement environment is good. Only focus students need to do is focus on their skills and improve them, and also a good CGPA is very important in placement. Companies like PSU, IOCL, NRL, L&T.
Infrastructure: We have almost all the facilities in our college, including GYM, Library, Computer Lab, Machines Lab, Embedded Systems Lab, and all other department labs. We also have a park and a canteen. Recently in 2026, our canteen has been under FATBELLY, due to which the food quality is very good.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, qualified, and supportive, and the course curriculum is relevant, and with the NEP it has become much better, with the new subjects and all other additions. Semester exams are comparatively easy compared to other colleges under ASTU. Since almost all the papers are set by AEC, solving PYQs and teacher notes is everything it needs.

It is a good college in terms of the faculty.
Placements: 50 percent of students are placed, with the highest package of 5 LPA and an average package of 3 LPA to 2 LPA. The top recruiting companies are NRL and other companies. Almost 90 percent of the students get a free internship in different companies. Top roles offered are manager, salesman, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is average with a vintage look. There is no Wi-Fi, and the classrooms are not that updated. The library is the most updated place in the college. The hostel is not that good in terms of food and cleanliness, but according to the price, it is good.
Faculty: The teachers are good and qualified enough. They have good knowledge of their teaching subjects. The teaching quality is the best. This course curriculum is relevant, and the students are made industry-ready. The exams are neither hard nor easy. Most of the students manage to pass the exams.
Other: I wanted to pursue BBA in a government college, and this course is a professional course.

An overwhelming experience with nature and studies.
Placements: It offered Bachelor's degrees, and it provided no such provisions for placements. Students were expected to find suitable job opportunities on their own, and most of them went for teaching jobs, and some went for higher studies, like an MA. The college provided counselling sessions for its students to guide them in their future endeavours.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure and overall ambience of the college were very good. The campus was in the midst of nature, which provided a very pleasant environment for studying. The labs, classrooms and libraries were well maintained. Some of the classrooms were still in a transition phase from old to new smart classrooms.
Faculty: As a student of English department, my mentors were very supportive and had a very strong understanding of the subject. They strived to teach us everything that would be needed for our future endeavours, be it teaching others, higher studies or research work. Coming to the other faculty members and departments, hearing from my friends from other departments, I assume they are very supportive as well.
Other: The campus can be overwhelming, and the natural beauty may bind you, but focus on your studies instead of passing time on campus, e.g., the auditorium, canteen, etc.

Reference volumes, legal case studies, and every resource are available in our library itself.
Placements: Law firms like Vahura, Trilegal, and ETIG are some of the recruiters that hired students with a starting package that ranges from 2.9-3.4 LPA, which would be increased based on our performance. Internship and other workshop classes are planned in the early part of the final year, with and without a stipend.
Infrastructure: It is mandatory to follow the dress code suggested by the management, especially for the law. Moot court halls and other research rooms are initiated on the campus. For any references, legal case studies, and other volumes, all the resources are available in the campus library.
Faculty: Active practitioners in legal fields are invited at least once a month to provide any demo sessions for practising. But our professors are not well-educated and updated with current case studies. They are approaching others to learn about such stuff.

Absolutely dissatisfied because of no placements provided, overall, good infrastructure.
Placements: No placements provided by the college, as the college is a government college, but the commerce department is not funded by the government, it's privately funded, and so the college doesn't offer any placement opportunities, as no companies participate here for hiring because the college doesn't offer any such opportunities or doesn't meet the requirements for this.
Infrastructure: The college offered pretty decent facilities like Wi-Fi, classrooms, a library, basketball courts, a canteen, parking facilities, and a volleyball court as well. The quality of the canteen is very good as there are many dishes served along with a live Maggi and coffee centre by Nestle just next to the library.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable in their respective domains. The quality of teaching is good. Semester exams are held by the University itself, and the pass percentage is also held by the university. 30 percent each semester you need to attain 27 marks for the written out of 80, and the remaining 20 marks, one for practical and the other for live project given on different problems related to the choice of honors.
Other: Since I have an interest in commerce, I opt for this, events and fests are held twice a year, in mid-September and in November.

Placements: The percentage of students placed in my course is 50 percent. The top recruiting companies for my course are Deloitte and the Big 4. The top roles offered in my course are finance management, accountants, auditors, etc. The highest package is 3 LPA the lowest is 50,000, and the average package is 1 LPA. About 10 percent of students got internships from my course in small CA firms.
Infrastructure: The facilities for the course are average. The classrooms are good, and the labs are also good. The library is very good because the books they have are excellent. The quality of the hostel facilities is good, and the food they provide is average.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is good. However, the course curriculum is not useful and does not make students industry-ready. The semester exams in the college were good, and the passing percentage is 30 percent.
