DTE HMCT Entrance Exam is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education of Maharashtra. This exam is also known as Directorate of Technical Education Hotel Management and Catering Technology Entrance Exam.
Syllabus Entrance Exam DTE HMCT:
Current Affairs and General Awareness: Latest Events, Sports and Games, Geography, Tourist Spots, Aptitude for Service Sector, Business and Trade, Countries and Currencies.
Numerical Ability and Scientific Aptitude: Data / Table analysis, Calculation of fraction, percentages, square roots, Health & Nutrition, Basic Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics, Profit & Loss, Simple and Compound Interest, Graph, Pie-Chart, Bar Diagram.
English Language: Adverbs, Adjectives, antonyms, Synonyms, Phrases and Idioms, Sentence Improvement, Reading Comprehension.
Reasoning and Logical Deduction: Geometrical designs & Identification, Numerical Series Completion, Inference from 4 Sentences, Odd One Out, Numerical Pattern.

You don't need to pursue MBA if you want to become a manager in a hotel.
If you are about to complete your 12th, you can appear for NCHMCT Joint Entrance Exam depending upon your rank in NCHMCT you will get an IHM. If you get a good IHM, you just need to study for 3-years BHM and in the 3rd-year, you can sit for placements.
Most of the companies recruit for their Management Trainee Program which in itself is equivalent to Post Graduation in hospitality, the Management Trainee Program prepares you to become a future General Manager. Upon completion of the Management Trainee Program, you join as an Assistant Manager of your chosen department. As you gain experience, you get promoted to higher positions and since you are a management trainee, you get an advantage over others in the promotion and one day you can become a General Manager of a 5-star hotel.
Many companies have tie-ups with international universities like Cornell, Ecole Hoteliere, Blue Mountains Australia which provides Executive MBA in Hospitality to the employees who has the potential of becoming a General Manager.
For fast career growth, you can pursue MBA in hotel management from international universities such as Cornell, Ecole Hoteliere Switzerland, Blue Mountains Australia, PHIMS, etc. but it's not mandatory to do MBA for becoming a manager in a hotel.
