In simple words, all robotic systems are mechatronic systems. But, all mechatronic systems aren't robotic systems.
Mathematically, robotics is the subset of mechatronics set.
Robotics is a specific branch of mechatronics that requires the knowledge of,
Dynamic system modeling and analysis
Control engineering
Signal conditioning
Sensors and actuators
Hardware interface
Path programming
Kinematics and so on.

There are very few Institutions that offer M.Tech in Mechatronics in India. As it's a young branch, investment in M.Tech in India would be useless but outside India such as Germany, USA, UK, Russia you'll find there is a huge demand for mechatronics engineers with good knowledge. Even the companies which manufactures the medical machinery needs the mechatronics engineer.
