Yes, the Indian government did indeed found an IIM in Mumbai in 1963. In the Management category, NIRF 2023 has IIM Mumbai rated seventh. According to the Times Higher Education 2023 Impact ranking, the college is ranked between 400 and 600. Students can enrol in PG programmes at IIM Mumbai in addition to other courses.
