As far as I have been into this, it involves the use of logic and a better understanding of programming language (especially C+since it is widely used in everything). Rather go for learning computer science. It is the discipline which is important, not the game programming college. Moreover, you will be able to combine all other areas of computer Science into programming games. Whereas in game programming college, they will only teach you a specific area of programming, which is quite wrong and won't be helpful in long run.
