The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University is a government medical university centred in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is named after the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Dr. M.G.Ramachandran (MGR) and it is the second-the largest health sciences university in India. More than 500 colleges affiliated to this University and more than 200 courses are being taught under the aegis of the mgr University. It was established in the year 1987. The motto of the university is "Health for all" which reflects the objective of the Medical University. It is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Medical Council of India (MCI), Dental Council of India (DCI) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
