It includes all the steps required to bring the customers into the store and fulfill their buying needs. Retail management saves time and ensures the customers easily locate their desired merchandise and return home satisfied.
The fashion and textile industries are complex, global enterprises that rely heavily on customer behavior, fluctuating trends and short product life cycles. Fashion retail management involves using merchandising and business strategy to ensure that products reach customers in the most cost efficient way possible. Retail environments range from small boutiques to large department stores.
Job prospects in this field are good, although these positions can be stressful. In addition, you can gain employment in this field by meeting minimal education requirements. Most training is performed on the job, and advancement is available through work experience. Three specialization areas you may wish to consider include retail sales worker, sales manager and marketing manager.

In today's market the largest share of revenue in most businesses comes from the retail sales. Retail is just not limited to supermarkets and shopping malls but has much broader meaning and reach as whatever we get to see selling around us involves retail operations.
Retail management courses are available in UG level (after +2) and also in PG level and so students from any background and stream of studies can join retailing management.
Some of the top institutions like, ISB - Hyderabad, SP Jain, NMIMS, K J Somaiya, Welingker, etc. are not easy to enter for students with average 'merit' (unfortunately, which is judged by marks) and are more suitable for people with some work experience seeking mid level career in retail sector.
Retail management programs are being offered by institutions like Indian Retail School, International School of Business & Media, Russell Square International College, Indian Business Academy, Indian Institute of Retail Management, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), etc.

Graduation is required for any master degree. As you are interested in pursuing Retail management course you need to pursue your graduation. first.
In order to pursue full time MBA or PGDM program you need:
Graduation in any field with at least 50% aggregate marks to be eligible to apply.Then, you need to clear the selection process of the B-school, starting with an entrance test accepted by the B-School. For e.g. CAT, MAT, SNAP, CMAT.
