In 2013, an expert committee of the UGC had recommended that students enrolled in a regular degree course should be allowed to pursue an additional degree simultaneously under open or distance education mode from the same or different university.

Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates with at least 50% mark either in Bachelors degree and/or in the Masters Degree in Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities. Bachelors in Engineering or Technology with specialisation in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto.

To appear in UGC NET exams, you should have a master degree, only then you are eligible to appear in UGC NET exams.
So, if you have scored at least 55% marks in Master's Degree Or Equivalent Examination in Humanities and Social Sciences, Forensic Science, Environmental Science, Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Sciences, etc. then you are eligible to appear for UGC NET examination.
