Undergraduate admissions to the College of Engineering, Pune are competitive and are based on merit.
Earlier admissions were based upon the percentage of science subjects' marks secured in Higher Secondary Certificate exam of Maharashtra state and later on the basis of marks scored in JEE-Mains.
However, at present, the admissions are conducted on the basis of the marks secured in JEE and HSC board combined. These admissions are conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP).
So you have to perform best in both JEE Mains as well as your 12th, as the cut off marks for COEP are very high. You have to score at least 90% in the 12th Boards.
The cut-off marks change each year. You have to score at least 250+ marks in JEE for getting admission in the COEP.
Below are the branch-wise cutoff marks through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP):
Computer Engineering - 189
Mechanical Engineering - 182
Information Technology - 181
Electronics and Telecommunications - 180
Electrical Engineering - 178
Instrumentation Engineering - 172
Civil Engineering - 170
Production(Sandwich)Engineering - 163
Hope this will help.
All the best.

COEP is among the best institutes for planning engineering in India. Perhaps it is not so impressive in terms of treatments and exposure you will get from COEP is just fairly decent.
Here are some of the insights of the college.
Intake:- 60 (planning)
Placements Scenarios:-
Average package:- 6 lakhs
Highest package:- 33 lakhs
Although only 20% students got placed which is very minuscule, hence planning engineering is not recommended for COE Pune.
Top Recruiters:- L&t, Tata Construction, Polaris, Essar, DLF, Mayfair, Zs Associates, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Box8, Larsen And Toubro Infotech, IDBI, Axis Bank, ICICI.
The college needs dedicated orchestrated efforts to rope jn many more companies as the list is not exhaustive enough for such huge strength of students at COE. So choose wisely and accordingly.

Generally speaking COEP blows SPCE out of the water. COEP is much well-known and trusted among recruiters as compared to MIT. Last time COEP had around 83.8 % placements for mechanical (this number seems less as the students who didn't accept the offers are also included) and the average salary was around 6-7 LPA for mechanical department which is more compared to SPCE.
COEP in also better in academics and extra-curricular are compared to SPCE. What I have learnt from staying one year in Tamil Nadu is that COEP is well known all over India but the same is not the case with SPCE.
So go for COEP over SPCE.

Yes, there is a quota of JEE Mains in the state colleges of Maharashtra though it is preferable to give MHT-CET for getting into the state government colleges of Maharashtra. If you are seeking admission into COEP you don't have to worry about the branch. Above 200 marks will be sufficient for you.
If you want a core branch such as computer science and engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical
engineering and so on you need marks above 250.
The above cases are for the general student. For an SC and ST student, the cutoff is very low as you do not need to touch even 200 for getting into the CEP as a core streamer.
Same for OBC the cutoff is lower but slightly higher than SC and ST which can be above or around 200 but still have more chances of getting into COEP than a general student.
Now in my personal advice, if you are very much worried and focused about placements, then go for petroleum in COEP. It will make you a millionaire in a very short time but not without hard work.
