GIBS School of Business operates under a disciplined and professional academic framework. As such, attendance, discipline and classroom participation are taken very seriously. Students are required to be present every week as classes consist largely of the students interacting with each other through discussion on case studies, presentations and real-life projects. All students must maintain a professional demeanor while on campus, including arriving on time, following correct etiquette in class and adhering to all academic policies. In addition to being supportive in nature, the disciplinary aspect allows for an open flow of ideas and questions from faculty and students alike and is encouraged. Class participation is emphasized at GIBS as it provides an opportunity for students to have their voices heard, collaborate as part of a team and engage in the process of learning through debating and presenting, which creates a sense of belonging, confidence, leadership qualities and ultimately prepares them for their future careers.

The GIBS Business School promotes an environment of support, professionalism, and balance in relationships through its academic programs. Structured class timetables and regular attendance requirements, along with evaluating students on their assignments, presentations, quizzes, and class participation, encourage students to take responsibility and prepare for the corporate world. The coursework is appropriately paced for the number of hours of weekly class time; students engage in rigorous coursework (including case studies and live projects), complete group work, study for examinations and write assessments, but they also have enough time to continue with internships, prepare for job placements, and participate in other activities as well. Faculty, mentors, and academic coordinators are supportive of all students and provide them with ample opportunity to get answers to questions, discuss their work and receive feedback on their projects, and provide assistance in planning future careers. Through the combination of structured discipline, appropriate amounts of coursework and supportive staff, the GIBS Business School provides an environment that fosters lifelong learning, practice for and preparation for challenges in today's global marketplace, and is focused on providing an educational experience with minimal stress.

GIBS provides a supportive environment for introverted or non-marketing oriented students to develop their placement potential through a focus on personalized mentoring and emphasising strengths rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Students will be assisted by the placement team and faculty in finding appropriate career paths in analytics, finance, human resources, operations, research, back-end consulting or corporate support functions where communication skills are crucial but aggressive sales techniques are not required. Mock interviews, aptitude training, resume development, domain-based skill development and one-to-one mentoring will help students to gain confidence at their own pace and develop industry-specific skills. By interacting with industry professionals regularly, working on real-life projects and having access to internships, students have the opportunity to expose themselves to real-world experience in a low-pressure environment. Mentors provide continuous encouragement and support to help students overcome their self-doubt. The support system provided to students ensures that they will be placement-ready and placed into positions that align with their personalities and strengths.

GIBS Fostering a Supportive Environment for Career DevelopmentThe GIBS Business School understands that the pressure of placement preparation can be overwhelming, and therefore provides a supportive environment through a comprehensive student-centred approach to career development and mental wellness.Structured Placement PreparationGIBS takes a strategic approach to the placement preparation process by distributing it throughout the entire academic year, as opposed to cramming everything into the end of the year. Through this process, students develop their self-confidence through the use of workshops, mock interviews, group discussions, aptitude testing and interactions with employers so that they are less likely to experience panic and stress as they approach their placements.Emotional and Personal SupportThe faculty, mentors and placement staff at GIBS take an active role in encouraging the student, providing one-on-one supportive guidance and helping them to set realistic goals that keep them on track and focused. With this type of personal attention, students are able to better manage their anxiety and stay focused and motivated on their placement preparation.Peer and Alumni SupportThe peer study group and alumni sessions, combined with the mentorship circles give students an opportunity to collaborate and share their experiences with one another and gain an understanding of how to cope with the challenges of placement preparation.Mentoring and CounsellingCommunication is key at GIBS, where students are encouraged to talk openly and be able to seek career guidance as well as emotional support from their faculty and counsellors, which makes students feel supported in every aspect of their education and prepares them for placement success.Campus EnvironmentThe natural environment of the Mind Valley campus at GIBS, an expanse of green, also promotes wellness, providing students with opportunities to create spaces for relaxation, reflection, recreation, yoga and sports, which helps to relieve the stress related to the pressures of academic course work and placement preparation.Combining these elements of systematic preparation, active support and an understanding of the importance of wellness will create a healthy and productive environment at GIBS.

Through initiatives like IRE Talks, AI Feast, and similar student-led industry initiatives sponsored by GIBS, students who may be shy and reserved start their journey toward becoming successful leaders through the development of confidence through an incremental, structured, and realistic exposure to the business world, creating their confidence and skills as individuals.Instead of putting students in high-pressure situations as soon as they enter college, these types of events provide a comfortable and supportive environment in which students interact with leaders, company founders, and professors on a more informal but still meaningful level. Students are encouraged to step outside of their comfort zone through participation in panel discussions and listening to the entrepreneurial experiences of others, asking questions during Q&A sessions, and even hosting and/or moderating various segments of events. The experiential exposure gained from attending these events helps students develop communication skills, a clear thinking ability, and a professional presence, as shy students realise their opinions are valuable and performance requires effort and participation, rather than being perfect. The experience of working behind the scenes on event planning, content preparation, and presenting with a group provides students with the tools they need to develop their organisational skills, experience working together as a team, and gain a sense of achievement for the roles they are responsible for filling. Almost as importantly, the new campus environment – with its collaborative area, mentorship from faculty members who are approachable, and regular interaction with representatives from various industries – facilitates these transformations by allowing students to learn in environments that are meaningful, relevant, and visible. With time, these shy students become confident communicators.
