Every year a lot of companies come for both summer and long-term internships — easily over a hundred plus options across domains like marketing, finance, HR, analytics, consulting, etc. It's not like 2–3 companies only.Sometimes you literally get multiple internships across different terms (like IRE projects + summer + corporate assignments), so it feels like we're always doing something industry-related. And because of this volume, most of us don't struggle to find one — it's more about choosing what suits your interest. For me, this part genuinely helps in placements because we enter with some experience instead of being blank.

We actually learn teamwork, planning, communication, and leadership by doing real activities on campus. Recruiters love seeing that kind of exposure because it shows that we can handle responsibilities beyond academics. Also, being in committees like placement, cultural, IRE, or marketing helps us interact with corporates, organize events, coordinate with faculty, and work under time pressure. These experiences become super useful in interviews because we have actual examples to talk about. It also helps with confidence and makes the resume look strong with real achievements. Overall, clubs and committees make a big difference when it comes to placements.

We had projects with companies in areas like marketing campaigns, digital branding, analytics, finance research, HR processes, etc., depending on the specialization. Most of them come through corporate tie-ups or guest companies visiting for IRE talks. For example, we did assignments related to market surveys, competitor analysis, sales pitch strategy, social media projects, business model studies and even product feedback surveys for real companies. The best part is each company gives a proper brief and expects submission and presentations, so it feels like real work. This helped me personally get clarity about roles and how industry actually functions. I feel this part really bridges the gap between theory and what companies expect in placements.

Most of our faculty either already come from corporate backgrounds or are still actively connected with the industry, so the examples they give are super relevant. They keep linking topics to current market scenarios, cases, and real business problems — which makes it easier to understand how things actually work in companies.Plus, we get a lot of guest sessions and IRE talks from industry people, so whatever we learn in class connects with what's happening outside. Even assignments are more like “solve this situation” instead of “write definitions.” As a student, it really helps because by the time internships and placements come, you're not blank — you've already practiced how to think like a professional, not just a student.

The CPM/finishing school itself runs almost like a separate layer on top of PGDM — regular skill-building sessions, aptitude training, communication practice, mock GDs, mock interviews, resume work, plus recruiter-specific prep. If you count it roughly, by 2nd year we easily cross a few hundred hours of structured training without even realizing it because it's spread across weeks and semesters. And apart from the official sessions, we have IRE workshops, bootcamps, events, and mentor reviews that also add up to placement prep indirectly. It's not like “two months crash course before placements” — it's continuous grooming from day 1, so by final placements you're already conditioned for interviews and corporate expectations.

Honestly, yes — GIBS does give chances for international exposure and internships. It's not hyped for the sake of marketing; we actually get interactions with foreign faculties, global workshops, and some students do land virtual or short-term international internships through those collaborations. It just depends on how much you tap into it.For me, the main takeaway was that GIBS doesn't limit you to just local placements — they genuinely try to give a global angle to learning, networking, and career plans. It's more like “if you want to explore abroad, the door is open, ” which I really liked.
