Admissions are on the basis of an entrance examination followed by a Personal Interview . Candidates need to clear some basic eligibility standards to be eligible for registration for entrance exams. Which is as follows:
Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination from any recognised central or state board. Candidates who have taken the exam in another country and whose results have been recognised as equivalent to 10+2 by the Association of Indian Universities are eligible. So, you can get admission to NIFT if you are able to fulfill course-wise basic education and age qualifications, irrespective of citizenship.

NIFT entrance examination is Institutional based examination which will only help you to get into NIFT whereas UCEED is a common Entrance Examination which is accepted by many design colleges and universities. So if you plan to get into only NIFT then you do have to give NIFT Entrance Exam but if you plan to apply in many universities then UCEED is a better option as you'll have many university choices and you can get admission on the basis of UCEED score.
