Hi Suraj, for the past 5-6 years the admission scenario in DU has become extremely competitive where the cutoffs sore was extremely high. The benchmark for the first cutoff list is generally above 95% in most colleges and the final cut off list barely goes below 90%. It is a difficult call for the candidates who belong to the general category. I have attached a link to the page which shows the cut-off list of previous two years for all DU colleges, please go through it: http://www.du.ac.in/du/index.php?page=cut-off-2017
http://www.du.ac.in/du/index.php?page=cut-off-2016.
Also, there is a deduction of 2.5-5% marks in your board exam results if you want to change your stream in college. Please go through our Shiksha link which talks about this in detail: https://www.shiksha.com/humanities-social-sciences/articles/du-admissions-2016-marks-disadvantage-for-stream-change-blogId-12957.
Visit the DU site regularly in order to stay updated about admissions this year. They usually commence in the month of May. The name of the site is www.du.ac.in. Cheers!

Hi Ritish,
The thing is that the admission for Maths Honors in DU happens through merit basis. If your score in board exams reaches the cut off for the college you prefer, you'll get admission directly. For admission, you need to fill an online form, which would be available on the DU's website a month or two later. Visit the website regularly and stay updated. For a better perspective, go through the link called 'Bulettin of Information' of last year, which explains all you would want to know about admissions. Just scroll a bit down on the home page of the website and you'd find it.

I'm really sorry but there is no course available at the University Of Delhi which offers you seats in 57%. Kids scoring 75% are unable to grab a seat. It will be great if you try somewhere else.

Hi,
There is no system for cut off as such, but last year the list of selected candidates was closed after the fourth list. If you are selected then you'd be admitted under the Department of Zoology. Selected candidates are allotted in different colleges of DU, so there is no certainty whether you'd get Ramjas or not, that's what the university decides. In total, there are 46 seats in case of general category. You should have secured at least 50% marks in your graduation exam to be eligible for the entrance exam. Having completed your Bachelor's degree in any medical Science course from a recognized university. Since, you have done zoology which is medical Science from an established university you're on. Pass subjects do not count.

Last to last year, it closed in the third cut off list which was 94%. The cut offs are pretty high every year and this time, it might or might not escalate, but lets hope for the best. Try your best to secure above 90% marks.

I would say take up Lady Shri Ram. I have a friend who studied humanities in Lady Shri Ram, and frequently interacted with students from Ramjas. And there is a major difference between these two.
Lady Shri Ram has an advantage- it is located in South Campus, far away from the hustle and bustle of North Campus. A lot of people believe it to be a disadvantage, but I believe for studying History it is an advantage. Why? Because Lady Shri Ram is never directly affected by any rapid or random change in Delhi University. It also has a great library, and sometimes Ramjas students need to ask LSR girls for books which they were unable to find in their own library.
LSR has a great faculty, which concentrates on grooming the individual, making them conscious about history and historical writing. It also has a strong Students Union which organizes a great history fest, Antiquity, has a close interaction with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) School of Social Sciences (which is near LSR) and also has tie-ups with INTACH, Dastangoi, etc.
If you want to feel the discipline, learn History without putting a commercial element to it, then go to LSR. As a woman, LSR is a liberating sphere, it gives you much more than just education. It is also the leading college of the country now, for a reason.
The statistics speak, so do the experience of students. I think you should take these into account while deciding where to study humanities.
