Difference in focus of curriculum: While there are huge similarities in the curriculum of both MBA and PGDM, there are finer points of difference. B.Pharm is a good qualification. You could pursue work assignments in any of the following areas/industries:
1.pharma companies in marketing/sales/product/QC /R&D /Production teams
2.work as a pharmacist with hospitals/chain of medical stores
3. set up your own medical store
4.health & fitness industry
5. e commerce industry
6. any other industry keeping in mind your interest area
as far as my knowledge goes there is no institute in India that offers M. Pharm + MBA specialisation
However post completion of B,Pharm you need to appear for CAT to seek admission into MBA

For research institute, I would say he should go for B.Sc. If interested or IISc, B.Tech, IISER. To apply for B.Sc. In good Institution he needs score above 80% in 12th. And for other Courses like IISc and IISER he have to clear JEE Mains and Advanced both to get into IISc or IISER. For B.Tech, passing in JEE Mains is still okay. But for good College like IIT and NIT he have to clear Advanced or score above 150 in JEE.

If you want to make your career in mathematics only, then go for B.Sc in mathematics, and then go for M.Sc and then Ph.D. You have very appreciable choice.

In western countries, there is a huge difference. But, in India the difference is less. BBA and MBA jobs are the same when you pass out from an average colleges. Though, students passing out from IITs and IIMS land up in specialized jobs.

Ya you can always switch over to management if u want to make a career in business/corporate world. mba(biotech/pharma management) is suitable for u. If not mba, u can always opt for m.sc in zoology/ genetics/ biotech/ biochem/ bioinformatics. After msc, u can compete ugc-net to pursue phd and become JRF or u can clear gate exam to pursue mtech.
