Yes, you can change branches but there are some criteria that you need to fulfill for branch change.
1- You must have cleared your first and second semesters with no backlogs or must clear your first year without a year back.
2- Your CGPA must be 8 or above 8.5 on a scale of 10.
3- You have to check in IoT or Data Science branch must have vacant seats else it is not possible.
4- The first thing you should talk to the HOD of the branch you want to go in and secondly get in touch with the college management on this issue.
I hope this will help you.

Grabing a seat with 83.3 percentile in computer science engineering is very tough. If you belong to certain particular community, then there is a slight chance to get a seat in lower NIT or IIIT, but if you belong to general category or even in OBC there is no chance to get any seat in any NIT/IIT/IIT or good government college.

No institute can guarantee you placements. It's just purely based on how you utilize your abilities and skills at the right time. I would suggest you to contact the training and placement department personally for accurate numbers.

Management & IT Consultant,

Both CSE and IT are similar branches. Syllabus of both branches overlap by 80 to 90% in various universities. CSE is more rigorous degree in comparison to IT because of emphasis on theoritical concepts. IT has more emphasis on Application development. CSE closes at higher ranks in any university in comparison to IT. Therefore, acedmics competition will be higher in CSE batch in comparison to IT batch in same university. Allthough there is no justification, Indian IT recruiters prefer CSE student over IT students.

most colleges nowadays ask for PCM marks separately and your total score out of best five subjects in 12th std while in other cases they have separate columns to enter marks for all subjects and overall percentage is automatically calculated. So don't worry you would get your fair share of advantage for scoring high in cs (if you wish to enter a cs related field like it/cs)
