With growing Indian Economy, all Medium and Large enterprises hire CAs in their Finance and Internal Audit departments. Job entrails financial reporting, taxation, auditing, forensic accounting, corporate finance, business recovery and insolvency, or accounting systems and processes, etc. CA, in the corporate set-up, is a support function, therefore, growth opportunities are limited within its specialisation. Very rarely, CA moves in other management functions unless they acquire additional qualifications or skills. Although, to establish as an independent consultant, CA has challenges. I am of the opinion that CA must evaluate working as ... View more

Hi NJ,
CMA is a pretty good option, an international certification sought after by employers globally and has a wide demand in India as well. It is offered by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) USA and the content is regularly reviewed by the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA). However, you can pursue CMA only after your Bachelor's degree preferably B.Com, BBA, BMS.

No one can answer this question but yourself. It totally depends on your interest. Go for what you have interest in. If you have interest in science and maths, go for science stream. If you have interest in accounts and economics go for commerce. In MBA none of these matter. Im a Commerce graduate and my friend is an engineering. Both of us in the same MBA Class. I sometimes outclass him in engineering subject (like operation research) and he sometimes outclasses me in economics.
Non of it matter. Choose what your heart says.
Good luck.

Chartered Accountancy (CA) is one of the most difficult professional qualifications. Pass rate of CA examination is traditionally very low. Students who enrol for CA after 10+2 face lots of challenges in case they are unable to complete CA curriculum. Therefore in order to mitigate risk of lack of career in the event of CA examination failure, it is a good mitigation option to have additional educational qualification for alternate career. Bachelor of Commerce with Major in Accountancy and Finance from IGNOU is designed and developed in collaboration with The Board of Studies, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, exclusively fo... Hi,
First of all understand that CS is not done through colleges. It's a course conducted by Institute of Company Secretaries in India.
It's not about the fact that it's tough. Yes, clearing it is a big task but with proper studies and labor, it's easy to crack and the after benefits are immense.

I did MBA from LPU and LPU is helping me grow professionally and personally with its career-oriented programs and support. There are many courses you can do with B.Com to increase your job opportunities like CA, CWA, CS and CFA etc. You can also learn computer applications like Tally, Oracle Financials and SAP Fico for better options.
Apart from all these courses, if you are interested in banking sector or SSC then you can prepare for competitive exams while you study B.Com final year instead of preparing after B.Com completion to avoid the delay.
If you are very much keen about accounting then I can suggest you to join for CA, since you did not yet complete your B.Com, you have to write CA-CPT exam to be eligible to do the CA. Try to make sure that yo... View more

I studied for CPT just for 15 days and got 168 in this December attempt. It is a very easy paper provided, you have good accountancy and mathematics base. Last 7-8 days must be only for practice manual because ICAI is too busy in making IPCC and a final paper that they just copy paste questions from practice manual for CPT.

The subjects you study will be same for both. If you are considering simply do the graduation then you can select B.Com but with B.Com honours you can specialise in one of your subjects for example accounts, etc. I would say taking B.Com honours would be better for your future studies, it will make the cousre for eg - you take MBA in future then that honours part will make it easier for you to understand the subject because you would already have maximum knowledge of that subject.
