Hello Raushan,
After completing class 12th, you need to appear for various entrance examinations. I would suggest you to appear for JEE Mains and Advanced. These two entrance examinations provide admissions to IITs/ NITs and other government colleges, which are cost-effective.
I would also suggest you to appear for individual state examinations (OJEE in Odisha, EAMCET in Andhra Pradesh/ Telangana, COMEDK in Karnataka, etc.). These exams also guarantee you good colleges and serve as a backup in case things don't end up the way you've planned for IIT/ AIEEE.
Every state has its own share of good engineering colleges. So, don't un... View more

Hi,
If physics in 12th level seems easier to you and you are comfortable and confident in solving different problems of physics then you may conclude mechanical engineering for yourself. Similarly, if in computer both hardware and software and programming languages seem easy then go for them. As a computer user, if you are really smooth, then you may think of CS. Nothing is harder in that sense. You are to choose one based on your interest and skill.

Management & IT Consultant,

Syllabus of computer science and IT overlap between 80 to 90% in various universities. CS is the study of computers and computational systems. Computer scientists deal mostly with software and software systems; this includes their theory, design, development and application. IT engineering is application of CS for enterprises to meet business goals. CS graduates can easily do both application and systems development whereas as IT engineers are trained to work on application development. Indian IT industry prefers CS graduates over IT because CS is branch taken by toppers in all engineering entrance examinations.

Management & IT Consultant,

In recent past Indian IT industry is going through challenging phase. Growth is no longer in 2 digits. Starting salaries have stagnant for last 2 to 3 years. Reading all these negatives people discourage students to take us CSE as career option. But my views differs from majority. IT is still a growing industry. If you do BTech CSE from a reputed college then you can make a very good career in IT industry. To be successful in the field of IT you have to sharpen your Technical skills every 2 years. You also have to develop soft skills to excel in the field of IT.

You can start your career in both software and hardware field. Best option would be to go for job to get entry level experience in computer science or IT field and then go for M.Tech or MS. Otherwise, you can also choose for M.Tech directly if you get admission in IITs or top engineering college. M.Tech from only the top engineering colleges will help you in good career opportunities.

Ajay, IT Engineering is more inclined towards the software solutions for business problem solving. IT engineering would deal more with programming, databases, applications. In other words, it deals more with the 'Information' part of the 'technology' . Computer Science Engineering, on the other hand, deals with the 'computer itself' including study of hardware & operating systems. Computer Science students should know about registers, multitasking kernels, data/address buses etc.
And there is not much difference between the two,if you do either from a reputed institution.
You can switch jobs in both fields as well in ECE too.... View more
