Crash courses are good for medical entrance exam after 12th standard but not as beneficial as regular course because in crash course very less time is given in studying and normally, classes are very long in which one doesn't get time for self-study. If you can manage time for your self-study then it will be good for you. Self-study is required to get good marks in entrance exams.

Management & IT Consultant,

Those who do not make it to JEE have two options, dropping one year for preparation or joining any engineering college or polytechnic. With polytechnic you will take 6 years to become an engineer. Therefore, choosing an engineering college with good faculty is a good option. After clearing GATE for M.Tech with education from a normal engineering college is an option to overcome not doing B.Tech from IITs or NITs.
Devoting 1 full year for competitive exams such as JEE preparation has its own merits and demerits. Dropping a year means that you will get sufficient amount of time to prepare for competitive exams. It will allow you to take... View more

Hi Naman,
Both are entirely different tests. SAT is more of aptitude abd reasoning test while JEE is for engineering programs. Yes, the JEE preparation will only help you with the mathematics section but not wholly as the formats are different.

Firslty you have to know the syllabus of exam then you can start preparing anytime. Some cons of preparing at an early stages are:
1 High frequency of solving sums
2 Good for verbal ability
3 Used to solving sums
4 Easily you can solve quants
5 You can save time for comprehension
6 You can crack the exam smoothly.

Hello Siddharth,
I think that's too early. In the first year (2nd semester), it is important to focus more on your engineering courses than MBA exams.
You will be eligible for MBA exams only during your final semester exams and so it will be ideal to prepare from the 3rd year or final year.

Retired Head of Sixth Forms, UK,

Dear Raunak,
This matters on how you can cope up. Apart from the preparation I wonder if you are taking the mock tests, take the mocks as much as you can, the mock scores will help you understand where you currently stand. On the whole depending on your scores and improvement you require you may devote 2 to 7 hrs a day or higher. You may combine the SAT preparation alongside your boards.
Best wishes

Hi Ananthu,
There are 4 sections in CAT exam i.e. quantitative aptitude, verbal ability, logical & analytical reasoning and data interpretation. It is always advisable to join a coaching that prepares students to crack CAT exam with high percentile and they also gives you study materials and take exams for better preparation of yours. As you are a 2nd year engineering student and I guess that it is the best time for you to start your preparation in order to score higher percentile in exam. Good luck!

In order to become a teacher it is a must to have a minimum of 60% marks in graduation. Also, it must be from a recognized university. The entrance exam will consist of questions from mathematics, general studies and reasoning. It will also test the candidates for their teaching skills.

Management & IT Consultant,

There are success and failure stories of JEE with or without external support. The choice of going for self-preparations or coaching for JEE depends upon your personality, intelligence level and budget. If you are self-determined student with high IQ, who is focused and capable of achieving targets based on self-assessment and hard work, then you can opt for self-preparation.
You can also join mock test series with coaching institutes along with self-studies, so that you can assess yourself with others and take corrective action to overcome your weakness.
