In BIT Durg, you need a rank under 250 to get computer science stream while in college Rungta, you need to score under 1000 to get computer science.

To pursue CSE at VIT, you should appear for their entrance exam. Since you mentioned that you belong to a poor family, then getting very good rank in VITEEE is of utmost importance, as they provide some scholarship to the meritorious students based on performance. Good luck. Hope it helps.

If you have confidence in yourself that you will stay away from all kind of distractions and totally focus on your studies then no one can stop you from scoring good marks in JEE and getting admission in NIT. But if you are not sure then go for computer science.

It purely depends upon your interest in the specific field. But, considering placements, CSE has more frequent opportunities as today every company needs the IT and computer people. Mechanical engineering is a core branch and It also has lot of opportunities of placements. But, again if your preference is towards salary and placements, going with CSE is a good opt.

Placements: The placement board is good. It takes the initiative for applying various companies. For our super senior’s batch, the campus placements are good and almost all are placed in good companies. The highest package offered was 9 lacs per annum and the least offered was 3 lacs per annum. The roles offered to people who are hired in different companies are software developers, web developer and software testing. You can get decent private colleges in second last or last round.
May be a government college preferably new REC's in spot round.
In last few years I have seen students with 7080k rank get a government college in spot round.
You might have a chance if you have any reservation criteria else give it a try. You have very great chance to GET into this institute with this rank. Attend the counselling and choose your options appropriately. Try Shiksha college predictor for better analysis.

No, at this rank, you can get admission in this college regardless of any campus. For that, you have to opt for the management quota and from there, you can get this branch in whichever campus you want.

I am afraid, there is no light at the end of tunnel. Like almost all states in India, eligibility criteria for admission into Engineering Colleges in TN is restricted to those domiciled in that state. This is particularly true for government or government aided colleges. The college that you mentioned falls in this category. I am attaching a link that will give you all the required information.

It is very difficult to get CSE at MIT with this cutoff score as you belong to OC. You need to go for any other college if you wish to do CSE. Else, you can try for any other courses at the top ranking colleges.
