Both require coding skills, but CS is more likely to give more exposure to it. There is no such thing as better because they lead to different careers and have different specialisations or subfields. Either discipline is a great choice for your studies, as long as you are passionate about technology, and you understand what each study option implies. All Information Science majors are required to take CS 1110, Introduction to Computing Using Python, Calculus I, and a Statistics course.

Current Student- DTU, Delhi,

Sorry to say but your rank is too high for computer science and IT cut-off.
If your rank had been under 800, then there were chances of getting CSE and under 1200, you might get IT but at this rank it is very difficult to grab these two branches.
I hope you understand my point.

It's not an important thing that you are average or good student.
The thing which matters most is do you really want to be there.
If your answer is yes, just go for it.
And to overcome this confusion, you should do a research about all the fields you want to be there.
After going through this process, you will come to a decision that would be yours.
Best of luck.

Hello Vasantha Kumar,
With this cut-off, it is difficult to get CSE at PSG but you can try your luck at the counseling. The cut-off varies for each category such as OC, BC etc. So, if you could tell me your caste, then I could tell the chances. For SC or ST, the cut-off is generally lower like below 190 or so.

Numerous CORE companies recruit students along with the major mass recruiters like Infosys, Wipro and TCS.
