Almost equal scope and placement but CSE nowadays leads the sector of engg by a small margin. But I suggest go with your interest coz you will overcome that little margin if you do hard work in your branch.

Both branches are better in engineering because every branch have their own scope. In civil engineering more government job after the b.tech rather than IT.
In IT branch you can get job in IT companies as software developer. You should choose branch according to your interest .

Yes, you can pursue a Degree course in CSE after your Diploma. You can directly take admission in 2nd year of B.Tech program through lateral entry scheme in any of the college. You have to check the admission openings in colleges for this program. It normally starts in month of July or August.

If your sole interest is in physics then mechanical is the best option for you. After mechanical there is one more option i.e. civil. These two branches has vast use of physics.
