All the branches are good in Engineering. No one is good or bad depends on your interest ans skill. Mechanical is a evergreen branch in compare to computer science. Both the branches are at present time very good for the career point of views.

He has to go with VIT Vellore for CS as it is better than new NIT as there are chances to get new NITs at 21800 otherwise he has to compromise with other branches which is not a good option.

Yes, for sure. There will be 3 books in 3 semesters with maths. So, you have to study maths to pursue B.Tech in CSE. First will be mathematics 1 then mathematics 2 and lastly mathematics 3. But if you follow the regular class and practice it then it will not be as difficult as you think. Be positive & best of luck.

IIT-B is known for computer science.

BITS is better than NIT for CSE because BITS is one of the most reputed colleges in India and having a position against IITs. Also, the infrastructure, teaching methodology, placements and overall development of students are upto the mark. But if you don't get BITS then you can go for any good NIT. Good luck.
