<p>Yes, there are subjective-type or long form answer questions in the IPMAT exam. The Quantitative Aptitude section of the IPMAt exam has Short Answer Type questions as well as Multiple-choice questions. It would be better for you to do M.Tech. You can also prepare for GATE exam as if you get a good rank, you can get good job opportunities. It is just my suggestion.
For your M.Sc Physics, you need to appear for PGCET.
As per the last years’ cutoff the least cutoff for any branch at any campus of BITS Pilani was 269 for BE in manufacturing at BITS Hyderabad so rather than missing out on engineering courses like chemical, manufacturing, civil at BITS Pilani campus due to not applying I will suggest you to apply and wait for the 1st iteration of BITS and then decide.
