<p>It is not neccessary to have studied commerce in class 12 for clearing CA Foundation. Student from any stream can pursue CA course. Having studied Commerce with Maths in class 12, can be an advantage, as the student will have a strong base in several topics related to accounting, taxation, economy, etc. &nbsp;</p>

CPT means common proficiency test. It is an entry level exam of CA. CPT is a basic test of first level of accountancy. Class 12th in commerce i.e. I.Com is required to qualify CPT. CPT is not compulsory for commerce graduates. Commerce graduate can directly enroll for IPCC i.e. second level of CA. Follow the website of ICAI to know more details.

First of all, to become an accountant, you have to choose commerce stream after your 10th and do a five year course or after your 10+2 do a three year degree course in commerce. After earning a degree in commerce (B.Com or B.Com Hons), you can pursue a post-graduate degree like M.Com or you can also go for CA, which will ensure you a career as an accountant.

If you want to do CA course, you can go for the entrance exam if you have good conceptual knowledge about the basics of 11th & 12th class. Many of the students who do not take the coaching because of the financial problems. They do self study and please refer the ICAI study material for self study. You will definitely clear the exam.

There are two options available to you.
Either do CA from here on or complete M.Com with Taxation from BHU or DU.
There are other Audit and taxation certificates as well.

CA in itself is a great scope with a wide scope. If you want to do something further, you may consider MBA in Finance or CMA. But as per me, I think you should go ahead with your career as a CA.

Congratulations for good results in PG. You are eligible to appear for the UGC NET exam which shall lead you to be an Assistant Professor job in colleges and universities. You can also get JRF if you qualify the UGC NET with distinction. Means your Ph.D will be sponsored by UGC. You can do a B.Ed to enter into School Education. Your M.Com makes you eligible for PGT Commerce in Schools and you can appear and qualify the CTET exams of states to be a School Teacher.

Appear for May 2019 CA-Foundation Examination, one has to get himself registered with ICAI on or before 31st December, 2018. However, registration can be done only after the student has appeared for class 12th examination i.e. after giving their class 12th board exams.
