No, it is not compulsory. But you need to pass in all the subjects. The only problem with low score will be in your campus placement, where companies fix minimum criteria as 60%, still you will be eligible for government jobs.

Your 12th percentage is very low. There is difficult to get some good college.

There are only 40 seats available in VIT for B.Arch. There are quite less chances for you to get admission as many students who have high NATA score will be selected.
Cutoff differs every year depending upon the number of students apply.

Candidates can apply directly to the college with the required information.
Admission is through counselling based on the rank obtained in Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical (KEAM) Entrance Test.
Remaining seats will be filled on the basis of score obtained in NATA.

Architects can work in the office as well as in the construction site. In construction companies, you will get to work as a designer. As an Architect, your job in not limited to design corporate workplace rather than you have to design houses, colonies, apartments, hospitals, hotels, stadium, shopping complexes, schools, industrial complexes, etc. This requires a lot of field work,
