Hello Shiva,
I feel NDT us a Better career choice. Once you get license for issuing certificate of safety, it's a perpetual business since only NDT methods are used for checking status of machinery in use.

This is the course that most students pursue once they complete their engineering. This course has many takers because of the job opportunities that it has to offer. Jobs of the institutes you mentioned are based on graduation and your PG subject will not matter at all. My advise would be to do a PG in mechanical engineering related topic.

If your son secures very good grades and interested in research he can apply for a MS in mechanical engineering. He can also apply for specialized Masters that is MS in robotics, MS in transport design, MS in manufacturing design, MS in automation, MS in mechatronics, MS in automobiles and many more. If you are working in a private bank after completing B.Tech in mechanical engineering, then you must opt for MBA. Moreover, if you want to change your field, then you must prepare for GATE exam.

There should be no gap in your studies and job because it can create difficulty for you to get a job. After completing mechanical engineering, you can go for a job in technical field and if you are interested in government jobs, then you can apply for Railway JE-SSE exams or SSC engineers exams to get a decent job.
