In the Biosciences department, safety and ethics are treated as a serious part of training. From B.Sc. Botany and Zoology to M.Sc. Microbiology, students go through orientation sessions that focus on lab discipline and standard operating procedures. They are guided on how to deal with accidents, use first aid in case of chemical spills, and report any mishandling immediately. Special sessions are also organized where faculty talk about ethical practices in scientific research—like honesty in reporting data, giving credit to sources, and ensuring experiments are environmentally sustainable. Students also learn about biohazard labeling and safe storage of cultures or specimens. By combining safety and ethical practices, the department prepares students to work confidently in industries like pharmaceuticals, food processing, and research labs, where such skills are not just expected but absolutely necessary.

Access to updated journals and research databases is very important for biosciences students, and it is made available for them. This is clear from the fact that in different fields like mycology, insect taxonomy, industrial microbiology, nutraceuticals, and bioremediation, students and researchers are actively publishing their work. Till now, more than 230 + papers have been published, which shows continuous use of such resources. Also, with 2 patents already granted and 3 more filed, students are working on innovative ideas that come only after reading updated scientific content. These journals give exposure to international research methods, modern experiments, and recent case studies. For example, in areas like antimicrobials or animal biotechnology, students can follow new trends directly from global research papers. With such access, biosciences students can stay updated, improve their knowledge, and also think about creating their own research contributions.

The candidates seeking admission to the PG-level programme and unable to decide which college to get in can compare them. Considering the course fee, MSc tuition fee at MIT School of Bioengineering Sciences range from INR 1.9 Lacs to INR 3 lakh. Additionally, the fee for MSc at Symbiosis School of Biological Sciences range from INR 4.8 Lacs and INR 5 lakh. Hence, the fee is slightly higher at Symbiosis.

The basic requirement that candidates have to fulfill for admission into PhD Biological Sciences in IIT Delhi are as follows:- The candidates must hold a Master's degree in Biological Sciences or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 6.0 or 60% mark. If you are among these, then you should possess a valid GATE / CSIR – UGC NET / JRF score. It entails an examination in writing followed by an interview. The 'Application Fee is two hundred INR for general / OBC candidates and fifty INR for SC / ST / PwD candidates. Application is normally made in April and July and the session is in July and January. A number between twenty-five and twenty students are admitted each year to the program.
